Slide Guitar DVD Course Open E Tuning

Dear John,

I am short in time due to my job as engineer of powerplants, but only some short views to your lessons brought me many steps ahead in playing well.

I am playing a 1957 Gibson ES 295 and 1947 ES 150 with perfectly sound for slide guitar. Aswell some German guitars of the 50ths Framus thinline sounding great and dirty with slide.

Anyhow with this great guitars and your very well done lessons I am happy.

This is a great compliment to lessons with my local instructor since I can use at home between lessons. The tabs and backing tracks have really been helpful also. John T. is a great teacher and awesome guitar player!

These lessons are music to my ears. Wanting to take my slide guitar playing to the next level, I purchased the lessons. Within the first few minutes of the lessons, I noticed instant improvent, especially in my tone, which was drastically improved in one simple step: Muting. The lessons are done in a easy to follow step by step instruction. Each lesson building on what was previously disscussed. Great exercizes to help you with technique and to bring you up to "speed". Another great attribute about these lessons is the way John teaches the use of scales and their intervals. Opening up the entire fretboard, in a pragmatic fashion. Breaking me out of the "blues box" so to speak.Lastly, the improvement in my ears was just icing on the cake. If you're interested in learning the slide guitar, these are the lessons for you. John, Thank you for these great lessons and helping bring my slide playing in the right direction.

A good entry in technique and style. I´ve made a good progress in playing slide guitar after this DVD. Actually I´m learning with DVD 3.

I found the course fairly easy to follow. John explains everything in a clear manner. The DVD course is great by being able to go back over lessons and points either forgotten or missed.

An outstanding series of lessons from an experienced and talented slide player, whose teaching skills match those in his playing. Although I have been playing slide for thirty years I have still learnt an enormous amount from the DVD's, and can unreservedly recommend them to anyone who is prepared to put in the time required to make a joyful noise.

This is by far the best dvd lesson I have purchased. I ultimately want to learn to play Lap Steel Guitar like David Lindley (who backed Jackson Browne). I have now switched gears and I'm learning electric slide guitar in the Duane Allman & Derek Trucks stlye, which I have always loved as well. In time, I will be able to transfer and adapt many of these new skills into my lap steel playing. I don't always get to practice as much as I want to, so its gonna take me a while. In the end, I have no doubt this DVD course will take me exactly where I want to go. I'm only still in the first DVD and I am re-learning, because I learned a few things wrong on my own. Mr. John Tuggle, thank you so much for putting this lesson together!

I play a lap steel guitar in open E tuning (it's practically the same playing like slide!) and I follow your lessons with a great enjoy !!!! GREAT COURSE,I have just set up a telecaster with heavier strings,adjusted the action and started to practise. I am trying to get the muting down pat,need more practise.At least I know what to do now after watching the dvd.It is so much more fun to pick up my guitar now.I surely will buy your next set of dvd's.

See my review of the open E tuning. Johns courses are outstanding. Real techniques. Great approach. I feel like I'm sitting there with him and he's encouraging me. I have been playing for 25 years and I would consider myself fairly advanced. I'm a straight blues guitar player and I have made great strides over the last few weeks with John's courses. I quit my guitar teacher and now I'm only doing John's courses which are an insane value. One hour of his lessons are worth a month of guitar lessons.

Great slide course from a great teacher. Well organized, easy to follow, and well worth the cost. I've been playing slide for many years but this helped me expand beyond the basics and open up the fretboard without getting too bogged down in music theory. I especially like the lessons on the major and mixolydian scales and am playing more melodically now because of them. The best part is that I can pause and rewind indefinitely and keep practicing until I master what is new to me.

I have enjoyed the lessons. It's opened up new avenues in my slide playing. Look forward to more lessons. -CMS

This is a MUST for anyone who digs on the Allman Brothers and DTB!!! I have been playing guitar for 17yrs (Self taught). I know my scales and theory well enough to step in on most jams. I've been stabbing at playing the slide now for several years and just had not gotten the results I was looking for. Three week later after working with John's DVD set on slide, I can hold my own in a jam. (and turn some heads as well) John's simple approach is the most concise well explained video I've seen. His teaching technique is simple and direct. Within the first hour I was moving into territory that I only heard in my head. Now I can play the real thing. I've previewed all the DVD's and am only on disk 2. Much room to develop my technique and style and with this DVD set, I know it's going to happen. Many thanks to John and the crew who put this together. These belong in every guitar players catalog!

This is a well organized set instructional DVDs with lots of pertinent information. Nice job John. Once I have mastered this set of DVDs I'll buy more. I hope you'll continue to come up with new lessons for slide guitar.

I am one happy purchaser of John Tuggle's Slide Guitar 6 DVD Course. I wasted time and money on a couple of books on Amazon (including one terrible one from a well known and highly respected musician) before I realized that the few things I'd seen by John on YouTube had taught me tons more than anything I'd got from those books. So I bought this and it's been forward progress ever since. I've learned something valuable from almost every section - even when I think I'm not. For example, I didn't get too excited about learning straight scales until a few minutes into it John had me using them to run up little ABB-like melodies. I vowed not to skip anything after that. I'm only into DVD #2 and as anxious as I am to find out what's next I'm following John's advice to incorporate the new material into my practice routine before moving on. He's a natural teacher by the way and the dual camera work on slide hand and pick hand is great. Stop wasting your time and money on other stuff and just get this. You won't regret it.
