Learning guitar: 12 Bar Blues guitar lesson

Posted onJanuary 7, 2008January 20, 2008 Beginner Guitar

So what is the 12 bar blues progression? In a quick answer, it is one of the most common used chord progressions in the history of music. You should definitely memorize this chord progression in all keys. This sounds like work, huh. Well there are shorcuts to memorizing this chord progression that are based on moveable patterns. This will allow you to play the 12 bar blues progression in every key by only learning it in one key, then moving that pattern up and down the neck of the guitar.

This is covered in Guitar Method Beginner Book 1, which I wrote for all beginners. It focuses on learning small steps, which can give you BIG leaps in your guitar playing.

Now back to the 12 bar blues guitar lesson. There are so many songs that use this it is not even funny. If you were to take a couple of private guitar lessons from me, I would undoubtedly teach you this. Here’s a small list of songs that use the 12 bar blues progression.

  1. One Way Out
  2. Statesboro Blues
  3. Call Me the Breeze
  4. Pride and Joy
  5. Red House
  6. Johnny Be Good
  7. Thrill is Gone and so many others

My advice to you is to make sure you learn this progression. It will make learning many songs a lot easier.[tags]guitar lesson, 12 bar blues guitar lesson, 12 bar blues guitar lessons, online guitar lesson, online guitar lessons[/tags]
