Complete Website Re-Design

I’ve recently totally re-designed every aspect of the website. I feel this change has been needed for some time, but until now have been unable to see what change should be made.

Here are some key things that have been changed.

1. The Fender Guitar Removed – I receive comments all the time about being Gibson Recommended and having a Fender guitar on the website header. This is no longer an issue.

2. Larger site – The completely larger size of the site has been needed for some time, so now you should see a more room for everything that can be read.

3. Larger Text – The text has been changed as well to make it easier to read. As we get older the eyes start to lose something, this should make it easier to read anything on the site.

4. Top Navigation – All navigation has been put at the top with dropdown menus to make it easier to find what you’re looking for.

5. Bigger Videos – All the Premium Lesson video previews are now a lot larger so you can see exactly what you you will be getting.

Here’s a side by side comparison of the changes.

Well those are the main things, but there are a slew of other features that I won’t bore you with. If you have any comments or see any issues please leave a comment below. I’d love to hear your opinion.

Thanks! John W. Tuggle

  1. Hello John,

Usually asking first then deploying is less risky :)! LOL

Well, it wasn’t that bad before. This will do just as well, too.

Just keep in mind your main broker, top level page is for ease of navigation. In this case to lessons, for the most part. Promotion, and other can always be put one click level down when folks feel like exploring. You want folks to land and hold there — not see an advertisement and leave.

I like your personal, and applicable experiences, blog — knowing that, does matter. There are many hurdles to overcome, over time regarding using music as a source of communication, which is what it is.

As always, all the best, and glad folks like you are around to engage. There’s lots out there — yet, this is a definite go to resource.

    • Thanks for the comment. I don’t think it was that bad before, but I think it functions much better now, and better SEO control. I don’t have ads on the site so there is no promotion other than myself.

I’m glad you like the site. Happy Holidays!

  2. You guys did a great job. I design websites as well and I know a good re-design when I see it, and this site is a good one.

I agree with you John, the other site was not bad in anyway, but this site does have a better feel. As you have probably already been told, your site should be about your business and deliver a good visitor experience. Emphasis on visitor experience.

Best to you and your efforts JOhn

      • Thanks. I designed the site myself. It’s been a work in progress over the past year of deciding what I wanted in a site and observing user behavior. I’ve been learning about design for the past 5 years and this theme allowed me to do what I wanted. The whole site is on Wordpress now. Before it was half html and Wordpress. html can really be a pain sometimes. Glad you like it.

I have had some problems with my left hand finger for about a year and it seems to be getting better. Sorry to hear about your injuries. I have turned to prayer and juicing to help my physical problems. I know that’s not traditional medicine but I think it has it’s place. Happy Holidays!

  3. Haven’t visited in a while, love the new site! Our site runs on a (highly customized) version of WordPress’s 2010 theme which was the default theme for a while. What shopping cart do you use? We use WP E-commerce but I think we may move to Cart66 on our next redesign.

  4. Sorry to say that the Fender was removed as I’m a BIG fan of Fender/ G&L and Gibson. I’m surprised they haven’t asked for the removing of Eric Clapton’s photo playing Blackie on your: ” I Practice Guitar But I Don’t Get Any Better.” LOL. No, I’m not that negative, just having a bit of fun as I see too many top flight guitarist on stage go through a zillion different guitars, pedals etc throughout their career and sell a lot of records. I suppose it’s like the FORD vs CHEVY vs DODGE die-hards.
