In video podcast 55 I want to show you how to play a slide guitar lick in open e tuning in the style of Rollin’ and Tumblin’ from Muddy Waters.  I am using the capo in this lesson to move the open strings to the key of A.  You’ll hear Derek Trucks doing this type of riff on such songs as “Meet Me at the Bottom”.

  2. Love it! This is such a cool sounding riff.

Are you looking at something down in front of you in the middle of this video?

    • Just spent all afternoon working on it. I am on only the 3rd lick of the open e slide DVD 1, but this was a nice tangent. I can pretty much do it, after an afternoon after practice, but need to cleanup the transitions between fretting and sliding. I’m really noisy when first putting the slide down after fretting, any tips there?
