Below is a transcript of this video.

Okay in Podcast number three, I’m gonna take a B minor pentatonic scale and just play licks located on one string, so the pentatonic scale and this is in B minor, it’s gonna be seventh fret that’s what key you’re in, high E string this whole scale and it’s important to know what key you’re in, so once again we’re in B- B minor pentatonic, seventh fret.

We can also use the fifth fret, flat seventh, second fret is good for the minor pentatonic scale. So you got second fret, fifth fret, seven, ten, twelve, fourteen, seventeen, nineteen. Bunch of cool licks you can do with just playing on that one string. All on the second, fifth, seventh, ten, twelve, fourteen, seventeen, nineteen. Just one-- it’s good to know that entire scale just on one string and then after you do that move it to other strings.

So once again, two five. So you can do a whole solo just on one string. So that’s just only the pentatonic and you can add a couple of notes here and there and say you’re playing over a minor, a chord progression and we wanna add one note to that, we’re gonna add the ninth fret on the high E string which is gonna be seven then nine, a ninth if you want more information about intervals and what these in notes mean, one, three, five, seven, nine, you wanna check out my Gibson SG Slide Guitar DVD about the major scale which I, you know, talk about how to use intervals, understand them and how they can make your playing more vocal like and melodic. So check out the DVD if you’re interested in more about intervals and also the ninth fret right here has a cool tone.

I’m just gonna make up a melody real fast. This is all one string, remember try to play over backing track just solo with one string. That’s all on one string lick, seven, nine, ten.

You can take that ninth fret, move it up twelve frets and you’re here on the 21st fret and then just take that same pattern, move it up 12 frets and see just by varying the touch with your hand, you can make the attack on the guitar a lot different. So that’s the pentatonic scale, we added one note, the ninth note to that in the key of B minor.

So memorize that scale and practice soloing with one string and after that, you know, learn all of the other five strings that scale and you can

Gibson Hummingbirdkeep extending that to different scales and different patterns and different keys.

So that’s it for video podcast number three.
