I have never had any luck in learning an instrument because I have always been so intimidated by it. Within my first lesson, John immediately queued into favorites artists, like Bonnie Raitt, and got me started on actual songs that I listened to, not "Hot Cross Buns." Also, he always pumps you up during your lesson. You learn an instrument because you want to make music and with John you are playing music from day one. Practicing is so instrumental and finding a instructor who can motivate you to put in the hours is rare. Within a year of picking up the guitar, under John's instruction, I can play some of my favorites and even more I use the guitar to write music that I could only sing before.
John keeps the beat in his feet, and I dig it. - Angela Savvas
"I was one of John's students over 10 years ago, and without a doubt,
his lessons have changed my life for the better. I've had countless
teachers since that time, both musical and scholastic, but John remains
among the top of the list.
When it comes to music teachers, I've found many of them to be elitist
about the music they were teaching, or snobbish in the song selection, and
often condescending when sitting in the presence of a beginner. I was just
a scared twenty year old rocker-in-waiting, and teachers like these
suffocated me. But not John.
I've given up my rock star days, but even now, I still play in the
comfort of my room and bathe in the warmth of the music he pulled from of
my fingers. I always thought that the guitar was only good for gaining
respect from other people; nowadays, I find a totally different use for
it. It's a release -- it brings peace and satisfaction to the soul. It
feels good to be able to play an instrument. It's a hard instrument
to play -- for me it is, anyway. Any other type of teacher would have
broken my will long ago. As a matter of fact, a few along the way almost
did. But each and every time, I remembered to return to the principles
John imparted to me those 13 years ago. And they've never failed, not
once." - Ferrill Gibbs
"John's Skype online guitar lessons
are great - beyond the value of his vast knowledge
of guitar technique and easy-going instruction is the fact that with
Skype - it's almost better than being there. The sound and video is crystal
clear, and the camera allows you an extreme close-up view of what he's
doing. I honestly believe that this advantage makes the user get more
out of each lesson.
I recommend him highly for beginner or advanced players alike - you'll
notice an immediate improvement - I certainly did. Thanks John!" - Jeff Salguero
"John and his book 'Guitar Method 1' are incredible. Even if you have
no musical talent, John shows you step by step how the pros do it. You will
be amazed at how quickly you will pick up the chords and play at ease. He
takes what was complicated and breaks it down so even I could learn it. You
will be playing rock, jazz, and the blues. If you have any doubt, listen to
John and you will know he his one of the best." - Ron Jennings
"If your starting out or just want to improve your guitar playing, then
you have reached your destination when it comes to guitar teachers. John's
guitar lessons are very informative on all levels covering tone, textures,
and execution of licks. So if you're looking to spend your hard earned cash
on something worth while, then don't hesitate now. Your money will be spent
wisely and you stand every chance of making it back when you play these
cool licks down at the pub or club. Brilliant lessons John!" - Andy
"I am a blind player and I bought "One Way Out" I have been playing for
30 years and have some knowledge of playing slide. I suggested to John
that there are many blind players out there. I suggested John describe
which fret and string he is indicating in his teaching lessons because
blind people can't read PDF files for tabs. Thank you John for
considering my suggestion because your teaching videos are great and I
plan to buy many of your lessons!" - William Greely Bloomington
