Love it
This lesson exceeded my expectations, slide guitar in open E. I am brand new to slide guitar and this has gotten me started off on the right foot. This lesson is great for slide beginners as it shows the basic fundamentals and does not contain an overwhelming amount of information. In a short amount of time I was playing some cool licks and doing it properly. I am looking forward to purchasing more lessons as I progress!
Great product
Decided to learn slide after an injury to my left hand started to limit my playing time. An internet search found Mr. Tuggle's free lessons, which I enjoyed so much I decided to take a chance on buying "Slide Method 1: Open E Tuning." I'm only about 2/3 of the way through the videos, but so far I am very impressed. The quality of video is great, the included tabs are very helpful, and most of all Mr. Tuggle's instructions and examples are excellent. This product has surpassed my expectations in every way. And my playing has improved drastically. If you are interested in learning slide, do yourself a favor and buy "Slide Guitar Method 1: Open E Tuning." For the cost of this DVD, an inexpensive slide, and maybe a bigger set of strings, you'll be on your way to playing like Duane Allman.

Your video put me right where I wanted to be in no time!I am actually playing, making up my own riffs too, and haveing alot of fun with it. Thanks to your video! I knew nothing about slide guitar before, but always thought I may have a knack for it..when I get a bit more grounded, I'll be up for the next DVD...good job!
Learning slide guitar the right way from the start!
I've had this DVD for about two weeks now, averaging about an hour a day of watching John and then trying to duplicate his technique. I love his method of teaching for two reasons; 1) I feel he is teaching me to learn slide guitar the "right" way from the beginning in order to avoid picking up bad habits that will trip me up down the road and perhaps cause me to quit in frustration. 2) He breaks down the riffs so completely, and with plenty of repetitions, so that even I can follow along! I would never have guessed I would come this far in just a few weeks, this DVD is a fantastic value. It would have taken many, many guitar lessons just to get to the level I'm at today. Thanks John!
Totally awesome!
I thought I was a pretty good slide player, before I bought this lesson. Now I realize I was not. I I learned more in 2 hours of playing along with this DVD that I did by myself in 10 years. My playing is cleaner and faster. The sounds and tones I was always looking for have finally arrived. I would recommend this to everyone who wants to learn the propoer way to play slide guitar.
This is where to start
I think that this lesson is very well put together. The tips that you get here will help you learn how to play slide guitar correctly. I've been playing guitar now for about ten years and tried slide twice before (once on my own and once with a DVD) and this lesson beats it with a baseball ball bat!!! I like the fact that John tells you the little things, which IMO makes all the difference in the world when it comes to tone and control. If you want to learn how to play slide, you will not be disappointed with this video. Great job John! (Umm...I usually don't even write reviews)

Slide Guitar Method 1: Open E tuning
I have been playing guitar for approximately 25 years and have always wanted to figure out how to play slide but didn't know anyone who could show me the ropes. John's method(s) is/are outstanding and shows exactly what you need to do to play. Although I have only begun to practice these methods, my wife has already asked me how I've learned to play some of the licks shown. Great stuff!

I play lap steel exclusively. It's very difficult to find instructional material for blues in open E for lap. While this dvd did not specifically address lap steel playing most of the info converted well. And, John's teaching approach is both clear and thorough. I highly reccommend this product.
